Job Summary
We are looking for Hot Air Balloon Crew Members who will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our ballooning activities. Working closely with the pilot and ground crew, you’ll assist with the safe setup, launch, landing, and retrieval of the balloon. This role is physically demanding and requires a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and exceptional guest service in the Serengeti’s unique environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Balloon Setup & Preparation: Assist in the setup of the balloon, including inflating and rigging equipment, to ensure a safe and efficient launch.
Launch & Landing Assistance: Secure the balloon during launch and assist the pilot as needed, assist with landings and deflation procedures
Equipment Maintenance & Inspection: Perform routine checks on balloon equipment, vehicles, and other materials to maintain operational readiness and safety.
Balloon Retrieval & Logistics Support: Coordinate with the pilots, track balloon location, and ensure quick and efficient recovery of the balloon after landing.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and assist the pilot in ensuring passenger safety at all times.
Guest Assistance: Assist guests during boarding and deboarding and help create a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the experience.
Support Operational Efficiency: Help with transportation, loading/unloading of equipment, and any logistical needs to support daily operations.
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications
Prior Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of crewing experience in the Serengeti.
Physical Fitness: This role requires heavy lifting, physical stamina, and the ability to work long hours, often starting early in the morning.
Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to identify potential hazards and respond quickly to ensure the well-being of guests and crew.
Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Ability to think on your feet and handle unexpected situations in a calm, resourceful manner.
Team-Oriented Attitude: A collaborative team player who works seamlessly with the pilot, fellow crew, and ground team, showing reliability and adaptability to support smooth operations.
Communication Skills: Effective communicator, comfortable interacting with international guests and following instructions from the pilot and team leads.
Driver’s Licence: A valid driver’s licence is highly desirable to assist with transportation and recovery operations.
Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Swahili is preferred; additional languages are an asset.
